“Initiatives toward carbon neutrality by 2050”
Participating in the 2023 Thermal and Nuclear Power Generation Convention
In September 2023, the Thermal and Nuclear Power Generation Convention 2023 was held at the Sapporo Convention Center in Hokkaido, organised by the Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering Society. As a company related to power generation working hard on the SDGs, TEPSCO participated in the "Research Presentation" on decarbonisation technologies and the SDG5 Network Event "Workers and their workstyle in a carbon-neutral society in 2050."

Since the Research Presentation was the main event of this convention, Mr. Hayakawa from the Thermal Power Division of our company gave a presentation on the theme of "Trend towards decarbonization in Asian countries; What will happen in 2050?''.
The key point of the presentation was that "It is important to maintain thermal power generation even in the age of renewable energy expansion, and in order to do so it is necessary to advance Japan's decarbonization technology''.
[SDG5 Network Event]
In a group discussion on "Workers and their workstyle in a carbon-neutral society in 2025", various people of different ages, genders and occupations working in thermal nuclear power companies took part and discussed what each of them should do now in order to achieve the target goals of SDGs. The participants were all able to realize once again that we needed to take action now.
We will continue to seize these important opportunities, and each and every one of our employees will actively work towards achieving the goals of the SDGs and creating a carbon-neutral society.
