About TEPCO

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is the largest electric power company in Japan and the largest privately owned electric utility in the world. TEPCO supplies electricity to meet the increasingly diversified and sophisticated demands of its over 28.34 million customers in the metropolitan Tokyo, which is the political, economic, and cultural center of Japan, and eight surrounding prefectures.

As of March 31, 2008, TEPCO has the total assets of 13,679 billion yen, 38,234 employees, and the total generating capacity of 62,473MW. During fiscal year 2007, ended on March 31, 2008, TEPCO sold 297,397 million kWh of electricity.

In order to secure a stable and reliable supply of electricity, TEPCO has diversified major energy sources ranging from hydroelectric, oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), to nuclear. To meet the increasing demand for electric power and to raise operational efficiency, TEPCO spent about 568.8 billion-yen for capital investment in fiscal year 2007. In response to diversified customer needs, TEPCO has been aggressively participating in the development of systems for efficient use of energy in urban redevelopment projects, and in information and telecommunications services.

Cooperation TEPCO and TEPSCO

TEPSCO is a TEPCO’s wholly owned subsidiary company and is operating its business as TEPCO’s consulting engineering firm domestic and overseas. The technologies and know-how of electric power engineering services embodied in TEPCO have been transferred to TEPSCO by means of exchange of staffs, exchanging of technologies in between and performing collaborative development in order to maintain and advance technologies for both companies.
